A HISTORY OF EXCELLENCE AND COMMITTMENT TO WOMEN IN OUR COMMUNITY
In June of 2002, several incredible women joined together to create the Southern Maryland Women’s League. The SMWL is currently an organization comprised of many diverse women dedicated to promoting, strengthening and supporting women and issues of importance through fellowship, education, service and mentoring programs. As a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, the funds raised by our annual event sponsors grants, scholarships and programs in support of women and children within the Southern Maryland Region.
In honor of our founding sisters and in celebration of our 10th anniversary - in 2015, we introduced the Southern Maryland Women's League Women of Impact Awards to pay tribute to outstanding girls and women who are making an impact in the world today. Our goal was to recognize girls and women who do extraordinary things to make their communities better places in which to live, celebrated our organization’s inception and show our appreciation to all of our members -- past and present -- who, through their outstanding work have come together to further our mission to educate and empower women. By highlighting the award receipients -- we wish to share their good works and their stories, and encourage others to step up and make an impact in their own way!
